I heard Benny Hinn say this once before he started preaching the Gospel. As soon as he said the words, I knew exactly what he meant. This is a great way to present Jesus to people who are searching for God. The greatest offer ever made to mankind was the proposition to place our trust in what Jesus did so that we can be reconciled to God.
What did Jesus do? That is the question I hear over and over. Jesus paid a price that was demanded by God, that no human has ever been able to pay. We are stuck. If we live perfectly, no price is required. But everyone knows that living a perfect life is impossible. It can't be done, and it will never be done. So, if there is a price to pay for sin, then every single person who walked the Earth must pay it.
What is that price? It is death. It is physical death and eternal separation from God. I don't know what you are living through right now. There are some MAJOR horror stories out there that I will never comprehend. I can however promise you this:
Whatever hell you are living here on Earth, it is NOTHING compared to dying with your sins and living in eternal separation from God.
So back to what Jesus did. Since we are unable to live a perfect life and are destined to spend eternity separated from God, He chose to make a way where our sins could be forgiven, and we didn't have to pay that price.
Jesus came to the Earth and lived the perfect life that was required. He is the only one who ever lived that could be counted as blameless and without sin. He had no price to pay. And because of this, Jesus was able to pay our price for us. In short, God the Father accepts the crucifixion and death of Jesus on our behalf. God saw that we couldn't do it.
God made a way for Jesus to pay the price that was demanded. And Jesus paid for it.
Yes. God has done all he can do to save your soul. He created a way for us to be reconciled to him. On the day of judgment, God won't see our sins. He will see the blameless Jesus. God has done all he can do, and all he is ever going to do to save your soul. Jesus said, "It is finished" just before he died. This means that the work of God is done.
It does not happen automatically. He gives us a choice. We can accept the greatest offer ever given to mankind by trusting in what Jesus did and confessing our sins. We have to choose to turn from our current sin and follow him for the rest of our days. When we do this, He promises that we become new creatures, and the Holy Spirit will live in us. Every person has a choice to make. Will you accept the gift of being reconciled to God? Or will you turn away and choose to live in your sin?
Jesus has opened the door to your prison cell. There is no other way to open it. He did it. It is finished. Now all you have to do is get up and WALK OUT! Will you choose to walk out of your prison cell today? Sadly, most people who are presented with this opportunity CHOOSE to sit in the cell.
